XVA1 – RC5

The bad news is, we’re in lockdown again in Ushuaia. Pandemic seems to be unstable down here.
The good news is, this means more time for XVA1.

This release has a substantial enhancement on the Early Reflections processor. It has now been expanded to process up to 32 reflections (previously 20), and XVA1 now features 32 different rooms (previously 12).

Also, the ER processor has now a setting which allows you to pick how many reflections are active (0-32) for each room. The active reflections that are sorted by intensity (not time), so you can think of those as ‘sub-rooms’.

The ER impulses for the 32 rooms were crafted with the help of a little program I wrote, which picks the most important reflections from any impulse file (the ones often used in convolution-type reverbs).

I used some beautifully sounding real environment impulses.

All moduels in XVA1 are now lint-verified clean (using both Icarus Verilog and Verilator), and many are now formally verified.

Power usage is now down to 0.6W, as several modules run now at lower/gated clocks.
