XVA1 – RC3

In today’s episode of “Extreme Pipelining”, I’m glad to introduce a new cool feat for XVA1: the SawStack.

In RC3, oscillators 1 and 2 can now become a stack of 3 or 7 saws, either in mono or stereo spreaded, with adjustable detune, pretty much like in z3ta+’s supersaw. Also, oscillators 3 and 4 can become a stack of 3 saw oscillators.

This results in a total of… 20 oscillators per voice (true oscillators, meaning each one holding its own pitch, not just stacking different waveforms), for a total of 640 independant oscillators when the 32-voice polyphony is maxed out.. When combined with the 128 filters, they are… powerful.

How the SawStack sounds? Those of you familiar with the JP8000/8080, the legendary z3ta+ or any of the modern soft synths replicating those textures will know. But in case you don’t, here’s a small snippet (patch #35, “SawStack”).
