XFM2: Built-in MIDIScope
Several builders have reportedly used different photocouplers for the MIDI part of XFM2 build.
That’s OK, almost any modern photocoupler should work. However, sometimes the values of the resistors have to be slightly adjusted. The most common symptom of misbehaving is having hanging notes.
XFM2 has a built-in MIDIScope, which sends to the USB whatever it’s receiving in the MIDI input, in hex form. This helps in debugging the MIDI part of the build. Usually, when the OC current is wrong, the Active Sensing message (F8) starts to change into some other.
To enable the MIDIScope, just press BTN1 (the one closest to the blue led), and connect a terminal to the USB port.
